Ulasan 2: Link Allocation of Disk Space

Video berjudul Link Allocation of Disk Space  diunggah oleh channel bernama Muhammad Rafie. Video ini dipublikasikan pada tanggal 27 Apr 2016. Video berdurasi 6 menit 14 detik ini telah ditonton sebanyak 1,091  kali. File Allocation Table (FAT) adalah salah satu implementasi dari linked allocation. FAT memiliki sebuah entri untuk setiap disk block dan diindekskan oleh nomor block. Untuk mengalokasikan block baru ke sebuah file kita harus mencari table entry yang bernilai 0, kemudian mengganti nilai end-of-file sebelumnya dengan alamat dari block baru. Keuntungan dari FAT adalah adanya peningkatan dari random-access time. Keuntungan dari linked allocation antara lain tidak membutuhkan external fragmentation, setiap free blocks dalam free list bisa digunakan untuk memenuhi request untuk disk space, ukuran file tidak perlu dideklarasikan ketika file dibuat, dan sebuah file dapat terus berkembang selama free blocks ada.
